PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an umbrella, particularly, a spreader of the umbrella. SOLUTION: This spreader of the umbrella having one end pivotally connected to a rib and the other end pivotally connected to an auxiliary sliding inside runner of this umbrella, is composed of a bar shaped rib being made of glass fiber or carbon fiber and having one end pivotally connected to the rib and a part of a metallic connecting rib having a U-shaped groove having two end surfaces and a side surface in the lengthwise direction, has a meshing joing part for surely keeping the connection with the bar-shaped rib on one end of the connecting rib, has a pivot hole close to the bottom of this joint part, and has a hole to be pivotally connected to the auxiliary sliding inside runner on the other end.
