METHOD OF REMEDIATION OF HYDROCARBON CONTAMINATED SOILS THROUGH BIODEGRADATION

A method of remediation of hydrocarbon contaminated soils through biodegradation. This method includes the step of mixing hemp hurd with hydrocarbon contaminated soil. The hemp hurd absorbs abundant water and serves as an initial source of carbon and nutrients for hydrocarbon consuming bacteria. The method is intended to facilitate the build up of a critical mass of bacteria that is then able to break down the carbon chains in the hydrocarbon.
