PURPOSE: A cyber banking system and method using fingerprint recognition is provided to reserve the stabilization of cyber banking by making cyber banking executed after establishing identity through fingerprint recognition. CONSTITUTION: A fingerprint recognition unit(10), comprised of fingerprint recognition(12), a programmable logic device(14), an external terminal connection part(16) and a control part(18), is connected to other units through a communication cable(36). The fingerprint recognition(12) captures a person's fingerprint through an image sensor. The image captured from the image sensor is stored in a storage part. The programmable logic device(14), connecting various peripherals in the fingerprint recognition unit(10) to the control part(18), transmits the image inputted through the fingerprint recognition(12) to the control part(18). The external terminal connection part(16), connected to the control part(18), transmits various switch signals and data receiving signals from the control part(18) to external equipments or transfers various transmitting data signals and relay signals received from external equipments to the control part(18). The control part(18) processes the image data processed by the programmable logic device(14) and controls the fingerprint recognition unit(10) overall. A set-top box(20) contains an input part(21), a display part(23), a CPU(22), a communication part(24), and an output part(26). The input part(21) is provided to input various data. The display part(23) displays operation results. The CPU(22) controls the whole system in the set-top box(20). The communication part(24) is for serial communication with the control part(18) of the fingerprint recognition unit(10). The output part(26) outputs data to the external according to the control signals of the CPU(22).
