PURPOSE: A method for using software and a computer peripheral having a macro function are provided to use a software hot key, to supply a key editor capable of defining a control key of the software on a screen, and to define text as a button. CONSTITUTION: In case of defining a button(10) as pushing the Ctrl, Alt and F10 keys of a keyboard at the same time, the definition is completed as a user first inputs Ctrl, Alt and F10 in a relevant column of a key editor displayed on the screen and then inputs the button(10) in a relevant column of the key editor. A button(20), a direction control key, minutely controls the location of the mouse pointer. A button(30) is a menu button for the extension of the buttons(10). An LED(40) is lit up when the menu button(30) is pushed. If a new peripheral unit is connected, an interface unit(50), composed of USB(Universal Serial Bus) terminals, automatically recognizes and connects it without rebooting or setup process.
