PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery which is easy to produce and sufficiently strong by forming a thin battery case with an upper cup 1 and a lower cup 2. SOLUTION: A battery element 3 is held between the upper cup 1, provided with a positive electrode terminal 4 and a negative electrode terminal 5 and the lower cup 2 provided with a safety valve 2b in layered state, whose welding margins 1a, 2a are welded to each other at their ends for sealing.
