A compound tool for food products (U) comprises a shell (2) capable of enclosing the product in use and which has structural characteristics resistant to mechanical stresses. It is also heat resistant. The heat-insulating material used is selected expanded polystyrene and foamed polyurethane. The shell consists of two layers, external and internal, separated by a cavity filled with a heat-insulating material. The cavity may also be essentially exempt of heat-insulating material and be maintained at sub-atmospheric pressure. At least one of the shell layers has its face turned towards the cavity with characteristics of optical reflection, imparting the properties of a Dewar flask. The shell consists of several sub-shells (2a, 2b) connected to one another (3a, 3b).
