PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disconnect an outside line which has been engaged when holding operation is done during an outside-line call and to restart the call by dialing the telephone number of a held telephone device saved in the outside-line origination or termination when the holding operation is reset. SOLUTION: When the outside line is held during an outside-line call, it is judged whether or not an in-calling opposite-side telephone number stored in an origination history memory 210 or termination history memory 220 is a telephone number which can be dialed to the outside line. When so, a display part 40 of the telephone device 10 displays the outside-line holding state and the outside line is disconnected; when the holding operation is reset by the telephone set 20 afterward, the telephone number of the held telephone device saved in the origination history memory 210 or termination history memory 220 is dialed to restore the outside-line call to the held-side telephone device.
