PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument in which a scale plate is assembled integrally with a light shielding plate in such a way that the scale plate cannot be levitated from the light shielding plate which is situated on the rear of the scale plate. SOLUTION: The scale plate 30a is sandwiched and held in the peripheral edge part of a through hole part 11 in the light shielding plate 10 by a tube body 12 which is formed integrally at the light shielding plate 10 in the peripheral edge part of a through hole part 31.
