The convertible automobile has a roof structure (12) with rigid movable roof sections, to give a closed roof configuration and an open-top automobile. The roof (12) is divided into two roof sections (14,15) and a rear window section (16) with two rear pillars (18a,18b). During the opening and closing movements, all the sections are linked together to be shifted with a low energy. The rear pillars (18a,18b) swing on at least one pivot point, to slide with a telescopic unit downwards into the bodywork.
