The transport apparatus comprises several fastenable lifting units (7) for raising and lowering a container (1), which are arranged at the corner portions (3) of the container. The lifting units are releasably mounted to the container over clutch mechanisms. Each lifting unit is provided with supports with movable hydraulic, pneumatic or electrically driven bases.
