A hollow puncture needle for diagnosis or therapy through which a guide wire is passed without any fear of damage even if the guide wire projected from a knife opening touches the inner rear edge of the knife opening. A hollow puncture needle (1, 1a) having a guide wire (10, 10a) therein which can project from a knife opening (2, 2a) the front edge (6, 6a) of which is sharp and the inner rear edge (8, 8a) of the rear edge (4, 4a) of which is cut at right angles or at an angle approximate to the right angle to have a three-dimensional shape.
