SEAL STRUCTURE FOR SPINDLE BEARING IN CYLINDRICAL GRINDING MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the axial distance (overhanging length) L between a grinding wheel 4 and a spindle bearing 3 in a seal structure for spindle bearing in cylindrical grinding machine comprising the grinding wheel 4 mounted on the front end of a spindle 2 supported on a spindle head 1 through the spindle bearing 3. SOLUTION: An annular groove 5a and an annular projection 5b to be fitted to the annular groove are formed on the back surface of the grinding wheel 4 and the front end surface of the spindle head 1 opposed thereto, respectively, and a labyrinth seal 5 for preventing the intrusion of 4 foreign matter to the spindle bearing 3 is constituted by the annular groove 5a and the annular projection 5b.
