PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutter for cutting a corduroy pile thread capable of reducing the price of a shaft by simplifying and minimizing cutting machining of the shaft and suppressing the vibration caused by the rotation of the shaft to the minimum extent. SOLUTION: A key groove 4 is formed in a cutter 1 on the extension of a short side part which is a back plate contact part in a stopper 5 formed in an inner peripheral part of a conventional cutter to eliminate the conventional stopper 5. Moreover, a key fixing groove 12 is formed at a position where it faces the key groove 4, and a key 11 is fixed in the key fixing groove 12 in the shaft 10 engaging with the cutter 1. The key 11 protruding on a surface of the shaft 10 is engaged with the key groove 4 of the cutter 1.
