PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bright green coloring material composition enabling easy management of temperature and/or humidity, capable of being inexpensively obtained in terms of the total product price, and having high functionality and sufficient brightness without employing a method of hydrolyzing a metal alkoxide, without using an expensive metal alkoxide or a highly combustible organic solvent and without the need of explosion-protecting equipments in production facilities, and to provide a method of producing the composition. SOLUTION: This composition features comprising red fine particles which have on the surface of each substrative particle at least one layer of coating film formed by the reaction of a metallic salt in an aqueous solvent and have a peak in a wavelength range of 450-650 nm. At least one layer of the coating film is preferably composed of aggregates made of crystallized fine particles each having void.
