PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass composition for imparting antimicrobial properties that can impart high microbial properties to other material or fiber, as the problem of discoloration caused by the antimicrobial components, for example, silver and the like is solved, antimicrobial polymer composite material and antimicrobial fiber. SOLUTION: The objective glass composition for imparting antimicrobial properties is obtained by adding 0.4-3.5 wt.% of Ag2O to a glass composition comprising 40-55 mol.% of P2O5, 1-10 mol.% of B2O3, 5-15 mol.% of Al2O3 and 35-45 mol.% of ZnO. Further, in order to prevent the material to which the antimicrobial properties are imparted, for example, resin, fiber or the like from being discolored by containing the Ag2O (particularly in the case of inclusion of >=1 wt.%), nitrate salt and/or sulfate salt are included in amounts of 10-100 wt.% based on the Ag2O in the glass composition.
