PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a gas bearing consisting of ceramic sintered body with a lower cost than in a conventional method, and easy in controlling the depth of groove. SOLUTION: This blast machine equipped with an injection nozzle 22 having a bore diameter smaller than the width of a groove 15 to be machined is prepared. The surface (working surface) of a member 14 to be grooved is arranged opposite to the injection nozzle 22 with a prescribed distance d without preliminarily masking the working surface. In the injection of abrasive grains from the injection nozzle 22, a desired pattern is traced while changing the relating position of the working surface with the injection nozzle 22 with the lapse of time on the basis of computer control, whereby the groove 15 of the desired pattern is formed on the member 14.
