PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a general purpose combine harvester good in reaping unit operability inside the steering section. SOLUTION: This general-purpose combine harvester has a reaping unit 8 set up in front of a machine body 2 equipped with running gears 1, 1, a steering section 9 furnished, on the machine body 2, with a steering handle 91 for the running gears 1, 1 so as to be situated at about the center in the transverse direction of the front of the steering section 9, and a threshing unit 5 for threshing grain culms reaped and fed by the reaping unit 8; wherein one flank of the above handle 91 is mounted with a lift lever 96 for the reaping unit 8, while the other flank with the main speed change lever 94 for running use, and furthermore, the main speed change lever 94 is furnished with upper-and- lower/front-and-rear position control switches S1 and S2 for a rake-in reel 85 provided on the reaping unit 8.
