The invention comprises polyaldimines and polyketimines, derived from polyamines and aldehydes or ketones, in which at least one amino or carbonyl group in the initial materials is attached to a tertiary carbon atom. The compounds are prepared by heating the initial materials in an inert solvent. Exemplified products are (1) the bis-aldimine from 1,8-p-menthanediamine (I) and isobutyraldehyde; (2) the bis-aldimines from I or hexamethylenediamine (II), and trimethylacetaldehyde; (3) the bis-ketimines from m-xylylenediamine or II, and tert-butyl methylketone.
