PURPOSE: A liquid crystal color display screen is provided to obtain a liquid crystal color display screen generating images with comparatively high color purity and having a comparatively long service life. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal color display screen comprises an electro-optical medium(1), two parallel transparent substrates(2,3) by which the electro-optical medium is flanked, elements(4,5) to influence the transmission state of the electro-optical medium, a phosphor layer including at least two phosphors on a first substrate(6), and a radiation source(7) for a radiation(13) having a maximum emission at a wavelength lambda1<360 nm, which radiation source is situated at the side of the second substrate, and an element for transforming the radiation having a maximum emission at a wavelength lambda1360 nm.
