<p>The invention concerns a method characterised in that it consists in: (a) determining in situ the tensile strength of the pole (1) by at least probing said pole in a substantially horizontal diametrical plane, at least at a predetermined height (H) above the base of the pole; then recording a profile (A, B, C) of the wood density over its entire diameter from which mechanical strength can be approximately assessed by mathematical analysis; (b) at least a probing at the base of the pole to assess the degree of rot and/or the weakening state of the wood at that level; (c) measuring the physical dimensions of the pole and controlling visually faults or degradation of the wood from which are evaluated corrective coefficients (Kn, Kd...) of the approximate mechanical strength to reach a net limit tensile strength; (d) and inputting the whole set of values thus obtained into a computer system comprising an expert software adapted to establish, on the basis of reference values contained in storage, a diagnosis for immediate or deferred repair or for preserving the pole, in particular, based on the net limit tensile strength obtained, compared to an acceptability norm for the type of pole controlled.</p> |
