PURPOSE: An outdoor automatic meter read for reading a water supply gauge is provided which not only automatically reads the photographed pictures but also manages them in a general management system after automatically storing photographed pictures of the gauge instead of a portable monitor. CONSTITUTION: The outdoor automatic meter read comprises a connector (101) for controlling the meter read and receiving image information; a charging battery (110) for supplying power to the meter read; an A/D converter (130) converting the image signals into digital data after receiving image signals of a gauge; an MEPEG signal processing part (140) processing photographed image signals of the gauge into MPEG signals for storing as a file; an I/O part (160) for reading information on a user and outputting image information; a scanner (170) for reading user's identification information of a water supply gauge such as bar code information or user's management number; a storage means (150) such as RAM or disk for storing the user's photographed information of the gauge processed in the MEPEG signal processing part (140) as an image file; a CPU (120) for controlling supplying of power to the meter read, information reading of the user, image file storage of image information, and outputting and deleting of the stored file; a ROM (121) for storing action programme of the CPU (120); a real-time clock generator (RTC) (122); a backup battery (123) for maintaining the stored information; and operating buttons.
