PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the problems that distribution of tensile force for a shadow mask in conventional shadow mask body structure has the form of two mounts, and so, the tensile forces in the left and right parts are more intense than that in the central part, that the vibration energy remains easily in the central part of the shadow mask for a long time if the mask is vibrated sympathetically, and as a result, the vibration in the central part of the shadow mask is difficult to be damped, and that a drop of color purity in the central part of the screen of a color cathode-ray tube lasts for a long time. SOLUTION: In the shadow mask body structure 10, the low rigidity area 12F of the shadow mask 12 is set to have a wide distribution near a narrow side 12B and have a narrow or non-distribution near the central part without changing the form of the narrow side of the shadow mask 12. The color cathode-ray tube equipped with the structure 10 whose damping of vibration is fast even if the shadow mask 12 is vibrated sympathetically by external vibration such as a speaker, the lowering of color purity is prevented, so that the picture quality excellent.
