The present invention discloses a novel polypeptide - human myotonic dystrophy protein kinase 44 and a polynucleotide encoding the same, as well as a method of producing the polypeptide by DNA recombinant technique. The present invention also discloses methods of using the polypeptide in treatment of various disease, such as myotonic dystrophy, other dystrophy, neurogenic diseases, tumor, disorder of growth and development, inflammation, immunological disease, blood disease, HIV infection and so on. The present invention also discloses an antagonist against the polypeptide and the therapeutic use of the same. Also disclosed is the use of such novel polynucleotide encoding human myotonic dystrophy protein kinase 44.
