PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave device having high quality that has superior filter characteristic, with no occurrence of defects. SOLUTION: This device provides a surface acoustic wave device, in which a plurality of surface acoustic wave elements 11, 12 at least a couple of comb- shaped electrode fingers of which are placed on a major side of a piezoelectric substrate 17 and a signal external electrode 13 and a grounding external electrode 14 of a case 19, to which signal terminals 3, 4 and a ground terminal 5 of the surface acoustic wave elements are placed alternately around the surface acoustic wave elements placed in the case 19.
