A system and method for assisting a consumer in selecting a financial transaction card (figure 2). A database of various financial transaction card offers from a plurality of financial institutions is maintained (figure 2). The consumer provides certain information about his or her lifestyle and financial circumstances (figure 2). Based on the information provided by the consumer and credit information, filters are applied to the available financial transaction cards to select those that best match the consumer's lifestyle and credit profile (figure 2).
