A magnetic head wherein a flat head (FH1) is mounted on a rotary drum (DR1) on which a magnetic tape (MT) can be wound, the flat head (FH1) has a smooth flat face (PL1) opposed to the magnetic tape (MT) and subjected to fluid interference with the magnetic tape (MT), and a head element (HE1) in contact with the magnetic tape (MT) and subjected to magnetic interference therewith is disposed in the range where the magnetic tape (MT) is in contact with the smooth flat face (PL1).
