PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform automatic diagnosis, prediction, and repair of a failure in a document processing system. SOLUTION: Machine data and job data are collected from a document processing system while the document processing system is operated. After storing the job data and machine data, a diagnostic inference engine conducts analysis to obtain the initial diagnostic result of the document processing system. The system determines a test pattern to be printed and an image quality text to be performed after obtaining initial diagnostic information. The system then prints the test pattern, scans the pattern and determines an image quality parameter to automatically discriminate an image defect. The diagnostic inference engine uses the result of image quality analysis to make initial diagnosis more precise. The diagnostic result is outputted and is displayed for a customer or a customer service engineer as an option. |
