The invention relates to a power generating installation that comprises a generator and a reciprocating internal combustion engine as drive, especially a synchronous generator and a diesel engine. Permanent magnets are disposed in the rotor of the generator in the pole zone to induce the rotor and a rotor winding (28) in the stator. In the pole zones of the rotor (29) at least one receiving pocket (34) is disposed in the axial direction and is open at least on one side. Said receiving pocket, with a cylindrical peripheral wall (50), borders the air gap (33) formed with the stator (11).
