PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for image rendering using a diffusion technique of sum and difference available, together with image rendering which uses more than four color materials. SOLUTION: In this method, a color value required in an image data inputted into an image rendering system is specified (S105), and the ratio of required every color material is determined (S110). An error diffusion process is adapted to a necessary color material volume or for each color material volume which provides a necessary color material volume in total (S115), the adjusted required color material volume at the prescribed point is compared with a prescribed threshold, to determine the volume of color material (S120) required. The adjusted required color material volume is stored in the order of volume (S125), a color material of the maximum volume is selected and included in the color material, expressed at the specified point (S130). An error is determined for each color material in the system and distributed for processing of other spot (S135).
