An underwater object location device (10) which comprises a buoyant marker (12), a flexible connecting member (14) and a releasable securing means (34). The flexible connecting member (14) is secured at a first end to an underwater object and at a second end to the buoyant marker (12). The releasable securing means (34) is attached to the underwater object and is arranged to be releasably engageable with the buoyant marker (12). When the releasable securing means (34) is engaged with the buoyant marker (12), the buoyant marker (12) is held below the surface of the water. When the releasable securing means (34) releases the buoyant marker (12), the buoyant marker (12) floats to the surface of the water so that the underwater object may be located and recovered.
