PURPOSE: A direct heating roller for fixing a toner image and method thereof is provided to reduce a warming up time and a power consumption by plastically forming a direct insulation layer and a ruthenium group electric resistance to the surface of a heating roller. CONSTITUTION: A direct heating roller(213) has a roller body(201). An insulating layer(202), a heating layer(203) and a protecting layer are laminated on the roller body(201). A center portion of the heating layer(203) is protected by a protecting layer. A pair of electrodes are installed at both ends of the heating layer(203). A fixing part includes a heating roller(213) and a pressurized roller(211). The heating roller(213) is rotated in a clockwise direction. The pressurized roller(211) is contacted with the heating roller(213) and is rotated in a counterclockwise direction. A thermistor(217) is contacted at the heating roller(213). The thermistor(217) detects a temperature of the heating roller(213). The heating roller(213) and the pressurized roller(211) are rotatably installed at the body of the image forming apparatus.
