The sealing ring is made of rubber and is held in a circumferential groove (7). On the edge to be inserted in the groove the ring (8) has several circumferentially spaced out recesses which are open at the edge. the recesses are spread out evenly round the ring . The recesses and the sections (11') inbetween are defined radially on the inside by an undulating line.
