SQUARE GROOVE OPTICAL BLOCK AND FABRICATING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A square groove optical block and fabricating method thereof is provided to increase productivity and reliability by reducing a process time and preventing a displacement of an optical fiber by means of a square groove. CONSTITUTION: A photosensitive glass substrate(1) is formed to a square groove by separating each other with predetermined distance. An optical fiber(2) is located in the square groove. A glass or silicon cover(3) locates on the upper side of the optical fiber(2) and the photosensitive glass substrate(1). An epoxy(4) fixes the optical fiber and the cover(3) to the photosensitive glass substrate(1). On the both upper side and lower side of the photosensitive glass substrate(1) is formed to the square groove. The optical fiber(2) is inserted in the square groove. A pattern mask is located on the upper part of the photosensitive glass substrate(1). The square groove optical fiber block selectively checks an ultraviolet ray at the region of the photosensitive glass substrate(1) and performs thermo process on high temperature. A deposition process deposits a selected one of a photoresist, polymer, or metal on the opposite surface checked the ultraviolet ray of the photosensitive glass substrate(1) and selectively etches the region checked the ultraviolet ray by soaking the photosensitive glass substrate(1) in the thin hydrofluoric acid solution and forms a square groove.
