The method involves evaluation of spectral data and color representation of the data in a reproduction system using a color association transformation involving the integration over the spectral range to be detected in the form of a summation over sensor-specific detection channels for each component of a three-dimensional vector in an orthogonal color vector space representing a normal valence.
