A conveyor conveys the food horizontally to the cutter unit which has two directly adjacent cutters (22,25). The first cutter next to the conveyor comprises at least one blade (24) rotating on an axle parallel with the direction of travel. The second cutter comprises a set of circular blades (26) rotating on a shaft (27) extending parallel with the conveyor plane and across the direction of travel. The second cutter has a counter-bar (33) positioned so that it is self-adjusting against the at least one blade of the first cutter. The movement of the counter-bar is restricted by at least one stop (37).
