<p>There is a stiffening foot (17) whose first end (18) is rigidly connected to the first end of the steering column assembly, and whose second end (19) is associated with the second end of the assembly by axial displacement guides (21,22,24) to enable adjustment of position. The second end of the stiffening foot is mounted displaceably in a rail (21) of a ferrule (20) of the second end of the steering column assembly, with members (22,23,24) to compensate for play between the rail and the second end of the stiffening foot, these compensating members has two wedge shaped rails (22,23) disposed symmetrically between the rail and the second end (19) of the stiffening foot , and it is provided with elastic members (24) for keeping the rails between the pieces.</p> |
