PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polishing body structured by forming a polishing layer on a supporter which is optimum to finish-polishing, such as optical fiber ferrule by improving the dispersibility of silica granular powder. SOLUTION: In forming a polishing layer 3 including a polishing material and a binder on the supporter 2, the silica granular powder of which average grain size is 0.1 to 15 nm as the polishing material is used. After the silica granular powder is mixed with the binder using a mechanical mixing machine, diluted and dispersed paint is applied onto the supporter 2 to form the polishing layer 3, thus it is possible to polish the end face of the optical fiber ferrule 5 smoothly without any step-off.
