PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing the development of a metallic iron plate on a furnace hearth, in a method for producing reduced iron with a rotary hearth furnace. SOLUTION: Oxidizing gas 12 having >=0.8 oxidizing degree of (CO2+H2 O)/(CO+H2+CO2+H2O) and of <=1100 deg.C, is blown to the metallic iron powder and stuck material 11 left on the furnace hearth 1 with an oxidizing gas blowing means 4 arranged at the interval from the rear side (toward the shifting direction of the furnace hearth 1) of a position 2 discharging the reduced iron 10 to a position 3 charging agglomerate (raw material) 9 composed of powdery iron oxide and powdery carbonaceous material to change this left material into iron oxide, and this iron oxide is removed from the furnace hearth 1 with an iron oxide removing means 5.
