PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide raw material for sub-merged arc welding material which, having good dissolvability, discharge-ability, and grind-ability, and absorbing little moisture content in atmosphere while manufacturing, is used as bond-flux for sub-merged arc welding. SOLUTION: This raw material for sub-merged arc welding material, manufactured by dissolving, solidification, and grinding, includes SiO2: 10-35 mass %, CaO: 5-20 mass %, Al2O3: 3-30 mass %, MgO: 15-40 mass %, and CaF2: 2-15 mass %. The particles size constitution is composed of particles sized 300-500μm: 1-5 mass %, and residual particles sized under 300μm.
