PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for insert molding capable of injection molding a molded article in a hollow outer layer material constituting a part of a molding space under necessary pressure without deforming the hollow outer layer material. SOLUTION: The insert molding apparatus for molding a liner 2 being a molded article in a hollow socket 1 by injection molding is equipped with a socket housing part 16 for housing the socket 1, molds 11, 12 for forming a cavity 5 for molding the liner 2 having a predetermined shape in the socket 1 and an injection mechanism for injecting a molding material Z in the internal cavity 15 of the socket 1 and a plurality of opposing pressure applying mechanisms 3, each consisting of a cylinder 30 and a piston rod 31 both of which apply the pressure capable of opposing the pressure of the molding material Z by the injection mechanism to the socket 30, are provided.
