PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container for transporting a high-temperature object, of which the lid can be mounted to and demounted from the container without utilizing a drive means such as an actuator. SOLUTION: The container is composed of a container main body having at its upper part a charging mouth for a high-temperature object, and a lid having arm parts coupled to both sides of a lid main body and capable of closing the charging mouth by being set on the container main body. It is so designed that the container main body performs ascending and descending operation in the distance between a lid demounting portion and a lid mounting portion where the lid is mounted with the aid of both the arm parts coupled to the lid main body, whereby the lid is mounted to and demounted from the container main body.
