PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting pulse waves is provided to eliminate the affect of outside signal disturbance by distributing a uniform pressure even at any probe points using a pneumatic system, and to improve the reliability of detected data. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for detecting pulse waves at three points on the wrist is comprised of a body having a space for receiving the wrist in lengthwise; an upward and downward slidable compressure member disposed along the inner top surface of the body at regular distances; a compressure device for uniformly pushing the compressure members; a measuring pressure container(91,92,93) containing the air, received in the compressure members; a probe(101,102,103) attached to the pressure container for transmitting the pulsation of radial artery of the wrist to the pressure container; a fine differential pressure sensor(111,112,113) for detecting the differential pressure in the pressure containers; a reference pressure container. The differential sensors detect the pulse waves of the radial artery by measuring the difference between the pressure of the reference pressure container and the pressure of the pressure containers.
