METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY RESTORING XDS DATA IN TELEVISION BROADCASTING RECEIVER

PURPOSE: A method for automatically restoring XDS data in a television broadcasting receiver is provided to automatically restore damaged XDS data when XDS data get damaged due to a power stoppage. CONSTITUTION: When a television broadcasting receiver is in a stand-by status, a controller check whether time data stored in a memory is valid(100). When the time data is invalid, the controller turns off a power(104). The controller controls a tuner to select an XDS channel or a valid XDS channel(106). A data detector detects XDS data(108) from a received composite image signal. The controller stores the detected XDS data in a memory(110). When a restoration of new XDS data or an update operation is completed, the controller turns off the power to maintain the stand-by status and finish a restoration operation.
