PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that after a video signal is reproduced from the leading of a video source by a HDD for the prescribed time, since a video signal succeeding this reproduction is switched so as to be reproduced by a VTR, random access and trick play are hard to perform after switching to a VTR. SOLUTION: A HDD 3 reproduces picture data of an arbitrary recorded video source and supplies it to a VCR 4, records the picture data in a magnetic tape, while leaves a record region of the prescribed time being longer than the maximum time required for program-searching-reproduction of a VCR 4 in a record region of the HDD 3 as a record region for program searching from the leading of a record region of the arbitrary video source, and uses a residual record region as an erasion or overwriting record region. After reproduced picture data reproduced by the VCR 4 and being in a record position on a magnetic tape corresponding to a finish position of record position for program searching is supplied to the HDD 3 and recorded, then, it is reproduced and displayed on a television monitor 7, then, trick play utilizing random access can be performed.
