PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control method by which a digital television receiver displays a menu for selection of diversified operations and functions for an external device connected to the digital television receiver via an IEEE 1394 interface and a menu corresponding to the external device can be requested from the displayed menu. SOLUTION: On request of a menu with respect to the external device connected via a common connection bus of a user, a menu consisting of basicitems to select a function or an operation stored in the external device and of items to request a detailed menu provided by the external device is displayed, and when the basic item is selected from the displayed menu, a command corresponding to it is configured and transmitted to the external device to allow the external device to perform the function or the operation. When a detailed menu request item is selected on the menu, after requesting the mnu corresponding to the external device, the menu is received and displayed. |
