PLUGGING MATERIAL FOR SLAG HOLE FOR WASTE MELTING TREATMENT FURNACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plugging material for a slag hole of a melting furnace melting wastes such as municipal refuse and industrial wastes. SOLUTION: Heavy metals are sometimes eluted from clay constituting a part of a mud material used for plugging the slag hole of the melting furnace which melts the wastes and discharges molten substance from the lower part intermittently. The elution of the heavy metals can be prevented by compounding artificial ceramic or an organic binder in place of the clay, by substituting a flocculant for a part or the whole of the clay or by adding the flocculant or a heavy metal fixing agent to the mud material.
