PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fringe projection tomogram observation apparatus capable of performing efficient observation at a high speed without the need to consider the influence of mechanical vibrations or the like due to the relative movement of space modulation patterns. SOLUTION: This optical apparatus includes a light source 1, a plurality of space modulation patterns arranged on a rotating disc 2, a projecting optical system 3 for projecting the space modulation patterns onto a sample 4, an image-forming optical system 5 for forming images of the sample 4, an image pickup means 6 for picking up the images formed by the image-forming optical system, and an image processing means 7 for processing the plurality of images picked up by the image pickup means 6. The space modulation patterns comprise fringes formed by arcs of concentric circles whose center is the rotational axis 12 of the rotating disc 2, with the plurality of space modulation spaces being equal in space frequency but different in space phase.
