PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera of good operability by displaying a simple and clear function performance menu corresponding to the operating intention of an operator. SOLUTION: Plural selective pictures constituting a menu picture are displayed on a displaying liquid crystal monitor 30 stepwise to operate (function performance) in accordance with a series of items selected by the item selective pictures. 'Reproducing communication mode' S3 and 'photographing (recording) communication mode' S4 are allocated to two simple operations consisting of the pressing operation of a monitor displaying/reproducing button 26 and the opening operation of a lens barrier and 'Reproducing communication mode' S5 and 'photographing' (recording) communication mode' S9 (remote control in this case) are clearly divided as schematic items and presented.
