PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce costs by reducing memory capacity storing image data. SOLUTION: When the storage destination of image data, a reading condition and the term of validity of the image data are set from the operating part 8 of a network scanner device 1, an original is set in a scanner part 5 and the start button of the part 8 is depressed, the image data read by the part 5 are stored in a memory 7. In such a case, a CPU 10 clocks a time by using a timer 11 in a controlling part 6 and monitors whether or not the term of validity of the image data arrives. A user moves to the PC terminal 3 of himself/herself, accesses the device 1, inquires whether or not the image data are within the term of validity and acquires the image data when the image data are within the term of validity. When the term of validity expires, the CPU 10 discards the image data stored in the memory 7.
