PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently mount a wooden rod-like member. SOLUTION: In this wooden rod-like member fixing method, a wooden rod- like member 1 is disposed in an adjusted length between a pair of connection fittings installed at a space between them, and the end of the wooden rod-like member 1 and the connection fitting 2 are connected by a connecting bolt 4 to fix the wooden rod-like member 1 to the connection fitting 2. In this method, the wooden rod-like member 1 is previously cut, a holding recessed part 20 for freely holding a gap adjusting filler is formed in the end face, and the wooden rod-like member 1 is held to both connection fittings 2. In the case where the length of the wooden rod-like member 1 is larger than the distance between both connection fittings 2, an excess of length is eliminated by cutting or removing the end face projecting part 21 formed in the periphery of the holding recessed part 20. After that, the wooden rod-like member 1 is fixed to the connection fitting 2, and the holding recessed part 20 is filled with the filler.
